1952 to 2002 – Celebrating 50 Years

SUPPORT YOUR
ARMED FORCES

Following are service people called in to the Village Hall in response to our request in the last newsletter.  All of the residents of Lakemoor can let these people know how much we appreciate them by sending a card or note of thanks and to let them know we haven’t forgotten about them as the War on Terrorism continues.  Kids, a homemade card or drawing might be just the thing to lift their spirits.

Yardwaste Collection Available to
Lakemoor Residents
Jensen Disposal has two yardwaste collection options available.  All yardwaste must be in approved yardwaste bags (no plastic bags will be accepted) or a 30 gallon container.  The cans or bags shall be clearly marked “yardwaste/grass” or they will not be picked up by the garbage company.  Bundles of brush can be no larger than 2’ X 4’ in size and bundled with twine.  No yardwaste can exceed 50 pounds.
A resident may purchase a subscription for yardwaste pickup for a charge of $45 billed directly to the resident.  The subscription period is April 1st until November 30th.  They will pick up a maximum of four items per week.  Call Jensen Disposal at 847-566-5159.
The Village Hall sells yardwaste stickers for $1.00 each (sold in sheets of 5), and the stickers can be affixed to each bag, can or bundle for collection of yardwaste.
Burning of yardwaste is allowed in the Village BUT no materials other than leaves, tree trimmings, paper and cardboard may be burned.  The burn must  be responsibly attended at all times and must not create toxic fumes or noxious odors.  Fires must be 20 feet from any building unless in a secure enclosure.  The burning ordinance will be strictly enforced and fines range up to $500 per offense.  Burning is not allowed in the roadway.

LAKE
MAINTENANCE

As in past years, the lake will again be treated to control unwanted weeds and algae.  This treatment poses no threat to humans and animals.  The health department also tests water quality on a scheduled basis.  If a concern arises regarding water quality and safety the lake will be posted accordingly.  What can you do?  Do not handle lake vegetation.  Any fragments of Eurasian Watermilfoil can float to other parts of the lake, root and spread rapidly.  Boats should be cleaned before and after lake use to deter the transfer or reintroduction of contaminants.

BOAT STICKERS
Residents  -  Free
Nonresidents  -  $30
For enforcement purposes, all boats using the Route 120 boat ramp must have a sticker.  Nonresident fees help defray the cost of ramp maintenance.
