SUPPORT YOUR
ARMED
FORCES
Many of our servicemen and women have been called
to active duty and are in the mid-east and other parts of the world.
Although there may be many viewpoints on the current war, we can still show our
troops how much they mean to us and how much we appreciate their skill, bravery
and sacrifice.
If you know a Lakemoor resident who is currently
on active duty or you are a Lakemoor resident who has a family member, friend or
loved one serving in the armed forces, please call the Village Hall and give us
your name and the service person’s name, address and relationship. In the
next newsletter we will publish this information.
All of the
residents of Lakemoor can send these brave people a card, letter or note. (
Maybe some of the children can draw or color a picture for them.) Surely
the effort will be appreciated knowing that the folks back home are thinking
about them and appreciate them.
Please call the Clerk’s Office
at 815-385-1117 with the above info. Thanks for your participation.
There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less
than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.

Vehicle Sticker Deadline Is
April 30th
ALL VEHICLES MUST HAVE VEHICLE STICKERS DISPLAYED BY MAY
1ST
Everyone who purchased a vehicle sticker last year will
receive a renewal advice in the mail. To renew your sticker(s) make any
changes, corrections or updates to the form and return both copies of the form
to the Village Hall with total payment. Be sure all vehicle information is
correct and complete. Each vehicle must have year, make, model and license
plate information on the form. Also check that your name and address are
correct. If you have additional vehicles that will not fit on
the form, or you did not receive a renewal form, stop in or call the Village
Hall for applications. Please note: Vehicle Stickers will not be issued
if the renewal or application form is incomplete!!
NOT RECEIVING
A RENEWAL FORM DOES NOT EXEMPT YOU FROM DISPLAYING A VEHICLE STICKER BY THE MAY
1st DEADLINE. STICKERS MAY BE PURCHASED IN PERSON OR BY MAIL. THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE ENFORCING THIS ORDINANCE.
If you have any questions or need forms please stop in or call the Village Hall (385-1117).
By Municipal Code, all vehicles stored in the Village must have a Village
sticker. This includes work vehicles regularly taken home and housed in
the Village. Tarps may not be used to circumvent the ordinance. You
are also required to have state license and vehicle stickers on antique
vehicles.

Yardwaste Collection Available to
Lakemoor Residents
Jensen Disposal has two yardwaste
collection options available. All yardwaste must be in approved yardwaste
bags (no plastic bags will be accepted) or a 30 gallon container. The cans
or bags shall be clearly marked “yardwaste/grass” or they will not be picked up
by the garbage company. Bundles of brush can be no larger than 2’ X 4’ in
size and bundled with twine. No yardwaste can exceed 50 pounds.
* A resident may purchase a subscription for yardwaste pickup for a
charge of $45 billed directly to the resident. The subscription period is
April 1st until November 30th. They will pick up a maximum of four items
per week. Call Jensen Disposal at 847-566-5159.
* The
Village Hall sells yardwaste stickers for $1.00 each (sold in sheets of 5), and
the stickers can be affixed to each bag, can or bundle for collection of
yardwaste.
Burning of yardwaste is allowed in the Village BUT no
materials other than leaves, tree trimmings, paper and cardboard may be
burned. The burn must be responsibly attended at all times and must
not create toxic fumes or noxious odors. Fires must be 20 feet from any
building unless in a secure enclosure. The burning ordinance will be
strictly enforced and fines range up to $500 per offense. Burning is not
allowed in the roadway.
LAKE
MAINTENANCE
As in past years, the lake will again be treated to control unwanted weeds
and algae. This treatment poses no threat to humans and animals. The
health department also tests water quality on a scheduled basis. If a
concern arises regarding water quality and safety the lake will be posted
accordingly. What can you do? Do not handle lake vegetation.
Any fragments of Eurasian Watermilfoil can float to other parts of the lake,
root and spread rapidly. Boats should be cleaned before and after lake use
to deter the transfer or reintroduction of contaminants.
BOAT STICKERS
Residents -
Free
Nonresidents - $30
For enforcement
purposes, all boats using the Route 120 boat ramp must have a sticker.
Nonresident fees help defray the cost of ramp maintenance.
PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT
Foundation drains are not
permitted to drain into the sanitary sewer lines, violators will be made to
correct the situation and will be fined. Please do not put the following
items down toilets or drains: feminine hygiene products, disposable
diapers, paper towels, prophylactics, grease, oils and toys. Also, washing
machines should be equipped with lint catchers. Attention to the
aforementioned will reduce sewer line and lift station maintenance and
damage. Barbies and Hot Wheels don’t pump well.
The beach will
be open on Memorial Day. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
There is no lifeguard on duty. Let’s keep our parks and beach clean.
Please don’t litter. Trash cleanup uses valuable time that could be spent
on other projects. Animals are prohibited from the parks and beach and
animal wastes negatively impact beach water samplings. Skateboarding is
not allowed in the parks, especially on picnic tables. Parents are
responsible and liable for damage caused by their children.
Please report streetlight outages and location to the Public Works
Department so the appropriate ComEd facility can be contacted.
Have a
safe Summer!
Police Department
With the approach of spring and nice weather all drivers should remember
to watch for an increase of children on bikes, roller blades and
skateboards. Please drive defensively when you see them because you never
know the sudden change of direction they may take. The natural instinct
for children is to chase items into the street without thinking about vehicles
and traffic in the area. The nice weather will also mean that there will be more
people outside, as well as people jogging and walking on the sides of streets
and roads. As drivers we need to be alert all the time especially around
children who are playing or near the street.
With the approach of spring and nice weather it will be nice again to
leave doors and windows open to get fresh air in the house. Remember to
secure windows and doors when away from home. Don’t leave front doors open
when you are in your backyard working as it is always possible for unwanted
persons to enter your home with out your knowledge. As you prepare for
vacations and time away from home remember to have a neighbor watch your home,
take in your mail and pick up papers that have been delivered. It’s a good
idea to have a light with a timer on inside the house to give the appearance
that someone is home. Don’t forget to call the Police Department and let
us know so if there is a problem we will know you are gone and who to
contact.
The fine for failure to display a valid
vehicle
sticker is $25.
